In August 2012, I participated in a residency program in Berlin. I had planned to draw a large wall drawing based on my thoughts and experiences during my stay in Berlin. But then, to my surprise, there was a stove in the middle of the wall because Berlin is very cold in the winter. There was no way of removing the stove. I felt the stove would create a disturbance in my drawing. After much thought, I finally decided I would make a large wall drawing using the stove as my subject. winter. 2012년 8월 독일 베를린에 한 레지던시 프로그램에 참가하였다. 한 달 동안 그곳에서 머물면서 보고 느끼고 생각한 것들을 대형 벽화로 그릴 계획이었다. 그런데, 갤러리 벽면 중앙에 난로가 떡하니 자리잡고 있는게 아니가? 난로는 동 베를린의 거의 모든 실내에 있었다. 그곳에서 난로는 길고 추운 겨울을 나기위해 필수 적인 것이었다. 어떤 벽화를 그린다 해도 난로 때문에 방해 될것이 뻔했다. 며칠간 곰곰히 생각한 끝에 난로를 소재로 벽화를 그리기로 결정하였다. 난로는 내게 장애물 같았지만 결국에는 빛나는 주연이 되었다. 입체적인 난로를 중심으로 양벽과 천장에 대형목탄 벽화를 그렸다. 이과정을 비디오영상으로 기록하였다.
